client City of Kempten
This listed building from 1802 was comprehensively renovated and adapted to modern usage requirements. The three-storey building with the mansard roof has historical masonry walls and vaulted ceilings on the ground floor and in the cellar, whereas the upper storeys have ceilings with wooden beams. The renovation included upgrading the ceilings and the roof truss with fire protection measures, installing a lift for barrier-free access, which required partial opening of the barrel vault in the cellar, and the addition of a second staircase as an escape route. All of the measures were implemented in close collaboration with the Antiquities and Monuments Office in order to retain the historical substance.
