Extensive recalculations and structural investigations were carried out for the repair of the Wallstrasse Bridge. The superstructure, pillars and abutments were examined in accordance with the "Guidelines for the recalculation of existing road bridges". The detailed investigation revealed significant corrosion damage and damaged tendons, which can be attributed to leaky seals and faulty grouting of the tendons. A fine-meshed monitoring system was installed to monitor the deformation of the bridge. Reinforcement took place in several locations in order to restore the load-bearing capacity. The transverse load-bearing capacity was improved by means of additional measures, the roadway slab was reinforced with additional transverse tendons and steel straps, and the longitudinal load-bearing capacity was optimized using external tendons.
