The renovation of the bell tower focussed on the remedying of moisture and weather damage which was caused by the original grouting with cement mortar. After erecting a facade scaffold and removing the roof covering, damaged wooden components were replaced. Wall and spiral anchors were installed to stabilise the wall corner and the iron structure of the tower cross. The measures also included the renewal of the sheet metal covering, protecting the sandstone cornice using rolled lead and re-grouting the masonry with a suitable mortar.
