The bridge over the Opobo Channel along the Bodo-Ronny road connects Bonny Island with the mainland, and is an engineering masterpiece. The bridge is specially designed with central openings for shipping traffic. The foundation consists of solid piles, which are reinforced by steel casing pipes in the river area. The superstructure will be constructed using the incremental launching method, supported by an incremental launching basement with deep foundations and two reinforced incremental launching systems. The box girder is prestressed using the mixed construction method, with internal and external tendons. This bridge sets a distinctive accent in the region.
