Repair of the half-timbered structure, which was built in 1848. The bridge straddles the Illertal, and has three supports that are 35, 52 and 26 metres wide (from west to east). The cross-section of the wooden bridge superstructures, i.e. two box-shaped structures, each consisting of 5.26 metre high vertical girder systems with lower and upper wind bracing. The middle span is also underspanned with a steel structure. The goal of the project was to restore the damaged bridge, which was constructed as a railway bridge and has been used as a pedestrian and bicycle path bridge since 1986, into a fully functional connection between the banks of the river.
