Hotel Kühberg, Oberstdorf

The traditional business has been extensively modernised, including the redesign of 16 accommodation rooms and the construction of a three-storey new building with 8 hotel rooms using cross-laminated timber construction. The prefabricated walls and ceilings were assembled using a modular building technique. The load-bearing cross-laminated timber walls look after the load transfer, whereas a cast-in-place concrete building technique was used on the fire wall to the existing building. The foundation consists of strip foundations, connected by a floor slab. A winter garden was also built on, and a gable dormer was added. The existing load-bearing walls were secured with strain relief structures.
