Chapel of St. Nikolaus, Gunzesried

The detailed examination revealed a significant infestation of dry rot beneath the gallery and in the choir arch of the roof truss. The infestation was documented in photographs and the roof structure was precisely recalculated. A careful repair concept was developed in close collaboration with the State Office for Monument Preservation. This included static reinforcement of the damaged base points, uniform repair of the wall lath, the tie beam and the pentagonal sill, partial renewal of the cornice and the development of a specific renovation concept for combating the dry rot. Since the infestation was more extensive and older than was originally assumed, the renovation concept had to be adapted in order to ensure that an effective solution was provided and ensure the long-term preservation of the chapel.
