Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital, Dresden

The Dresden University Hospital is being extended with the new building to replace building 32, which will accommodate a central surgery department and an emergency room. The project was implemented in several construction phases, taking intermediate construction phases into consideration. The extension building was erected during the first construction phase. During the second construction phase, the adjacent parts of the building were converted and connected to the new building. The five-storey new build brings together several institutes and clinics with a surgical focus in a single building: The operating centre is directly connected to the existing buildings via bridge structures, which ensures a seamless transition and efficient operation.
