Burgweinting Railway Bridge, Regensburg

client Federal Autobahn GmbH

The project involves the renewal of the Burgweinting railway bridge, crossing 20 tracks belonging to Deutsche Bahn. The structure was constructed in 1965 as a steel composite bridge about 200 metres in length with two separate superstructures. During the course of the replacement new build, the two partial structures will be demolished section by section and rebuilt using the incremental launching method. Because of the interface to the DB, several auxiliary structures and protective frameworks were required in order to maintain the train traffic apart from a few stoppages.
