The replacement construction of the A3 viaduct near Heidingsfeld is an excellent example of modern bridge construction. With a total length of 630 metres and seven bays, it is a combination of innovation and functionality. The superstructure consists of two separate single-cell box girders, each of which is 20.75 metres wide. The imposing pillars reach heights of up to 50 metres above the ground. The structure was manufactured using the incremental launching method, whereby the monolithic connection of the superstructures to the pillars took place afterwards.
