Wood hybrid construction methods
The innovative wood-hybrid construction methods make it possible for optimum use to be made of the specific material properties of wood and concrete.
Wood-concrete composite
Wood-concrete composite construction (HBV) is based on the combination of wood and concrete building materials. The hybrid construction method makes it possible for optimum use to be made of the specific material properties of both building materials. This allows the advantages of wood to be combined with those of concrete. Hybrid components are mainly used in ceiling construction: wood-concrete composite ceilings consist of wood elements that form a shear-resistant bond with a reinforced concrete slab above them.
KB is active in the research and further development of wood-hybrid construction methods and standardisation work. We are pioneers in this area. We also have a well-known wood construction specialist in the KB team, Prof. Dr. Jörg Schänzlin.
We have already successfully supported the implementation of wood-concrete composite ceilings in prefabricated construction in pilot projects in industry.
Basic principle
The wood-concrete composite construction method is based on the combination of wood and concrete building materials.
Advantages
The wood-concrete composite construction has impressive advantages over conventional designs made from wood or concrete.
Application
The outstanding properties of wood-concrete composite construction open up a wide range of potential applications.
